Maass Signs With AHL's Hershey Bears

Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State defenseman Benton Maass has signed with Hershey of the American Hockey League.

Maass had three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in his lone season with the Mavericks. The Elk River, Minn., native had 68 shots on goal an +20 rating in 42 games played in 2021-22. He scored Minnesota State's first goal in a 5-1 win over Minnesota in a NCAA Frozen Four semifinal game played in Boston April 7.

Maass, who helped lead the Mavericks to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular and postseason tournament titles and the NCAA Albany Regional championship this year, played at New Hampshire for four seasons prior to transferring to Minnesota State. Totals for his college career include 162 games played, 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points.

Hershey is an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals.
