Duluth, Minn.--- MSU came into today's game coming off a narrow victory in St. Cloud on Friday against the Huskies.
The Bulldogs started fast putting the Mavericks on their heels early. The Mavericks were only able to muster five shots in the first half, landing only two on goal. The Bulldogs owned the pace of play early capitalizing on their control.
At the 37' mark of the first half, Bulldogs'
Lauren Singstock sent a pass into the box setting up UMD's
Rachel Boelke for the tip-in to get the Duluth on the board early.
Heading into the Intermission, the Mavericks trailed in almost every stat setting up a much-needed fast start. The Bulldogs accounted for the Mavericks strategy as their midfielders dropped back to lockdown UMD's box.
MSU had no answers until the 77' mark of the second half when
Brynn Desens took advantage of UMD's miscommunication on defense. Desens ripped her shot pass the UMD goalkeeper to tie the match late.
Both teams matched the others intensity in the dying minutes on the match to finish with the tie. The Mavericks are back in action at The Pitch next Friday at 3:00 to take on Minot State.
