Minnesota State Women's Cross Country Places Third at 2021 Griak Invitational

Montplasir Places Fifth as Top Maverick Individual

  Mankato, Minn. ---  Led by junior Amanda Montplaisir, the Minnesota State's women's cross country team placed third at the 2021 Roy Griak Invitational held in Minneapolis, today.

The meet, which was hosted by the University of Minnesota, included 27 teams and 327 individuals. Minnesota State combined for 96 points in finishing behind UMary (64 points) and Minnesota Duluth (69).

Montplaisir, the reigning Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, placed fifth with a time of 22.42.4 for the 6K course.

Other Mavericks, their time and finish, included sophomore Skylar Bragg (23:01.2/12th), sophomore MaKenna Thurston (23:09.6/20th), junior Mackenzie Gaherty (23:23.6, 28th), freshman Ashlin Young (23:35.9/32nd), freshman Makayla Bishop (23:55.3/49th), freshman Alyssa Rauk (24:07.8/68th), freshman Megan Narveson (24:39.6/103rd), sophomore Paige White (24:47.9/110th), freshman Marissa Ellenbecker (25:15.5/143rd), sophomore Maggie Anderson (26:17.6/204th), freshman Madelyn Skjeveland (26:43.1/222nd), freshman Carolyn Haar (26:46.3/225th), freshman Melanie Illies (28:03.9, 272nd), freshman Emma Ward (28:17.2/280th) and freshman Madelin Bruessel (29:16.8/294th).

Next action for Minnesota State is the Bob Waxlax Invitational Oct. 7th in St. Cloud, Minn.
