Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State soccer team defeated the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears a 4-0 in an exhibition game, controlling the action and the scoreboard with a three goal first half.

At 19:05 Libby Spangler found a wide-open Brynn Desens streaking down the left side who broke down the defense and found Jenny Vetter who drilled a goal to the right side.

28 seconds later, Vetter snapped off a shot into the high right side of the net after completely breaking down the Golden Bear defense to give the Mavericks a 2-0 lead.

At 24:47 of the first half, Vetter once again broke down the defense from the right side and found a streaking Claire Cater for a goal to the left side of the net.

Early in the second half, Desens capitalized on a deep pass into the box from Cater, sneaking a touch shot passed the goalie, to extend the Maverick lead to 4-0.

The Mavericks as a team outshot the Golden Bears 16-12 in the game while Vetter scored two goals with an assist and Desens added a goal and assist of her own. Mackenzie Rath stopped all seven shots on goal to earn the combined shutout with Jessica Craigmile.

The Mavericks will return to action Sunday Mar. 12th, against the Upper Iowa Peacocks with kickoff scheduled for 3:00.
