#21 Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul Draw to Conclude Regular Season

ST. PAUL, Minn.. -- #21 Minnesota State's 11-game winning streak came to an end Friday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular-season finale played at Concordia-St. Paul that ended in a scoreless draw.

With the tie, the Mavericks finish the regular season 14-2-2, including a 12-1-2 record in NSIC action for third in the conference standings. The Golden Bears are now 9-6-3 this season, with an 8-4-3 conference record for fifth in the NSIC.

The first half was a scoreless one between the Mavericks and Golden Bears. Shot attempts were even at four after one half with MSU owning a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal.

At the end of regulation, MSU and CSP were still each without a goal. As a result, extra time was needed in an attempt to determine a win. However, an extra 20 minutes also was unable to determine a goal scorer and the regular-season finale for both squads resulted in a draw.

Sophomore Mackenzie Rath (9-1-2) picked up her ninth career shutout in the tie and made five saves over the course of the 110-minute match. On the other end, Ashlyn Waldon (3-0-2) followed suit with five stops in the draw.

In total, CSP outshot MSU 18-9 while both sides totaled five shots on goal. The Mavericks edged the Golden Bears 5-4 in corner kicks.

With the loss to finish third in the NSIC standings, Minnesota State will host the sixth-seeded University of Mary at 1 p.m., Wednesday at The Pitch to open the NSIC Tournament.
