Jake Livingstone beating Zach Driscoll for the freshman defenseman's third goal of the season. Nathan Smith and Julian Napravnik were credited with assists on the goal.
Minnesota State outshot BSU by a 10-4 margin in the second period, but it was the Beavers that were able to generate some offense in the middle frame. Brad Johnson's power play marker at 3:03 gave BSU a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes of action.
The only scoring in the third period turned out to be an empty net tally by Elias Rosen at 18:42.
The Mavericks, who were missing several players due to injury, owned a 36-10 advantage in shots on goal in the game. The Beavers capitalized on one of their four power plays, while the Mavericks finished with a zero-for-five performance with the man advantage.
