The Mavericks, who have won 19 of their last 23 games and are rated third in this week's USCHO poll, host 15th-rated Northern Michigan this weekend in a pair of WCHA contests.
In a series that started in 2013-14, the Mavericks stand 14-5-3 all-tme vs. the Wildcats. Minnesota State, which has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools, is 8-2-0 all-time vs. Northern Michigan in games played in Mankato.

Ian Scheid scored his first goal of the season when he tallied the game-tying game with less than a second remaining in last Saturday's 2-2 tie at Alaska Anchorage. Scheid, who then scored in 3x3 OT as the Mavericks claimed the extra point vs. the Seawolves, hasn't missed a game in his four years with the Mavericks. The Coon Rapids, Minn., native has 1-15--16 in 30 games played in 2019-20 and heads into this weekend's series with UAA owning 1-4--5 in the last seven games. Scheid has 23-68--91 in 151 career games and stands tied for fourth on Minnesota State's career scoring list for defensemen. Connor Mackey earned WCHA Defenseman of the Week honors for the second straight week after racking up five points in two games at Alaska Anchorage last weekend. Mackey, scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 7-1 victory over the Seawolves, assisted on two goals as the Mavericks staged a dramatic last-minute comeback in forging a 2-2 tie with UAA Saturday. Mackey, has 4-16--20 in 28 games played this year. The Tower Lakes, Ill., native heads into the series with Northern Michigan riding a four-game point-scoring streak during with he's racked up 1-6--7. Mackey has 15-36--57 with 192 shots on goal, a +44 rating and 86 blocked shots in 110 career games.

Dallas Gerads continued to have a hot hand offensively with three points on a goal and two assists in last weekend's series at Alaska Anchorage in raising his season totals to 5-13--18 in 25 games played. Gerads has a four-game point-scoring streak going (3-2--5) and for his three-year career, the Blaine, Minn., native has 24-29--53 in 89 games played.

Parker Tuomie, who registered a goal and an assist in the series at Alaska Anchorage last weekend, has 42-81--123 in 144 games for his four-year Minnesota State career. His 123 points ranks eighth on Minnesota State's career point-scoring list.

Nathan Smith has amassed 3-1--4 in the last five games and with 7-13--20 on the year stands tied for 14th in the nation in freshmen scoring.

Dryden McKay, a five-time Western Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week honoree this year, stands 23-3-2 with a .940 save percentage and 1.36 goals against average on the season. The Downers Grove, Ill., native leads the country in wins, goals against average and shutouts (he has seven) and is for second in save percentage. McKay stands along atop the school single-season record for shutouts with seven and his 11 career shutouts are tied for first all-time at Minnesota State (Cole Huggins (MSU 2013-17) also had 11).
