Of the Hop
Minnesota State, which picked up a 7-1 win and a 2-2 tie at Alaska Anchorage last weekend, stands 24-4-2 overall and are 18-3-1 WCHA.

The Mavericks, who have won 19 of their last 23 games and are rated third in this week's USCHO poll, host 15th-rated Northern Michigan this weekend in a pair of WCHA contests.

In a series that started in 2013-14, the Mavericks stand 14-5-3 all-tme vs. the Wildcats. Minnesota State, which has won four of the last five meetings between the two schools, is 8-2-0 all-time vs. Northern Michigan in games played in Mankato.

Mike Material
Minnesota State has gone 207-84-23 under the tutelage of head coach Mike Hastings, who is in his eighth season in charge of the Mavericks. No program in the nation has won more games (207) during the time Hastings has been behind the MSU bench.

Scheid Stuff
Junior defenseman Ian Scheid scored his first goal of the season when he tallied the game-tying game with less than a second remaining in last Saturday's 2-2 tie at Alaska Anchorage.  Scheid, who then scored in 3x3 OT as the Mavericks claimed the extra point vs. the Seawolves, hasn't missed a game in his four years with the Mavericks. The Coon Rapids, Minn., native has 1-15--16 in 30 games played in 2019-20 and heads into this weekend's series with UAA owning 1-4--5 in the last seven games.  Scheid has 23-68--91 in 151 career games and stands tied for fourth on Minnesota State's career scoring list for defensemen.  

Con Man
Junior defenseman Connor Mackey earned WCHA Defenseman of the Week honors for the second straight week after racking up five points in two games at Alaska Anchorage last weekend. Mackey, scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 7-1 victory over the Seawolves, assisted on two goals as the Mavericks staged a dramatic last-minute comeback in forging a 2-2 tie with UAA Saturday.  Mackey, has 4-16--20 in 28 games played this year.  The Tower Lakes, Ill., native heads into the series with Northern Michigan riding a four-game point-scoring streak during with he's racked up 1-6--7.  Mackey has 15-36--57 with 192 shots on goal, a +44 rating and 86 blocked shots in 110 career games.

DALLAS
Junior winger Dallas Gerads continued to have a hot hand offensively with three points on a goal and two assists in last weekend's series at Alaska Anchorage in raising his season totals to 5-13--18 in 25 games played. Gerads has a four-game point-scoring streak going (3-2--5) and for his three-year career, the Blaine, Minn., native has 24-29--53 in 89 games played.

PT Cruiser
Senior forward Parker Tuomie, who registered a goal and an assist in the series at Alaska Anchorage last weekend, has 42-81--123 in 144 games for his four-year Minnesota State career. His 123 points ranks eighth on Minnesota State's career point-scoring list.

Smith Scoop
Freshman center Nathan Smith has amassed 3-1--4 in the last five games and with 7-13--20 on the year stands tied for 14th in the nation in freshmen scoring.

Louder
Freshman forward Lucas Sowder has chalked up 4-19--23 in 25 games played this year.  Trinity, Fla., native, who is tied for fifth nationally in freshman scoring, has collected 1-9--10 in his last ten games played.

Senior forward Charlie Gerard recorded three assists in the two-game series at Alaska Anchorage last weekend and enters this week with 11-11--22 in 29 games played.  For his four-year Minnesota State career, Gerard had posted 28-34--62 in 113 games.

That's  the Trick
Minnesota State stands 6-0-0 on the year when sophomore forward Julian Napravnik scores a goal. Napravnik, who  notched a career-high three assists in last Friday's 7-1 win at Alaska Anchorage, has 7-11--18 in 27 games played this year and has a line of 15-24--39 in 68 career games.

Chris Cross
Sophomore winger Chris Van Os-Shaw had the second multi-point game of his career when he had a goal and an assist in last Friday's 7-1 win at Alaska Anchorage.  The Regina, Sask., native has registered 4-5--9 in 31 career games.

Sending a DM
Sophomore Dryden McKay, a five-time Western Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the Week honoree this year, stands 23-3-2 with a .940 save percentage and 1.36 goals against average on the season.  The Downers Grove, Ill., native leads the country in wins, goals against average and shutouts (he has seven) and is for second in save percentage.  McKay stands along atop the school single-season record for shutouts with seven and his 11 career shutouts are tied for first all-time at Minnesota State (Cole Huggins (MSU 2013-17) also had 11).

In the Nick of Time
In Senior captain Nick Rivera, who has 4-1--5 in the last five games, scored his fifth goal of the season in last Friday's 7-1 victory at Alaska Anchorage.  For his four-year Minnesota State career, the Pacific Palisades, Calif., native owns 29-25--54 numbers in 143 games played.

Numerology
Minnesota State has scored the game's first goal in 23 of 30 games this year and own a 21-1-1 record when doing so.

The Mavericks are 22-0-0 when owning a lead after two periods of play this year.

The Mavericks enter this weekend's series with Northern Michigan ranking first in the nation in wins (24), first in goals against average (1.53). goal margin (+64) and shots on goal margin (+270). Minnesota State stands second in penalty kill percentage (.906) and is fifth in power play percentage (.265).

The Mavericks established a school record last year with 32 wins and at the 30-game point of the 2018-19 season owned a 23-6-1 record (the Mavericks are 24-4-2 after 30 games this year).
