MARSHALL, Minn. --- The No. 17 Minnesota State wrestling team (7-1, 3-0 NSIC) kept things rolling as the Mavericks defeated Southwest Minnesota State (3-6, 2-4 NSIC), 31-8, Thursday night inside the PE Gym.

The Mavericks claimed wins in eight of the 10 matches, including a win by technical fall, a win by pinfall, two wins by major decision and four wins by decision.

At 125 lbs.,
Trenton McManus claimed a 20-4 technical fall victory over Hunter Pfantz. However, the Mustangs responded with a 17-2 technical fall win of their own when Jackson Stauffacher defeated
Cole Gille at the 133-pound bout. Â Â

MSU then won the next four matches to take a 19-5 lead after six matches. No. 9
Louie Sanders (141 lbs.) and No. 3
Kyle Rathman (149 lbs.) clamed back-to-back wins by major decision with wins by 11-1 and 19-6, respectively. At 157 lbs.,
Cooper Siebrecht picked up an exciting 3-1 overtime win over Nathan Moore.
Logan Saltou followed with a 9-3 win over Jacob Backlund.

Zach Johnston was upset by Hayden Voxland in the 174-pound match, but the Mavericks would respond by winning the next three matches.
Trevor Turriff earned a 7-6 win over Cole Hennen, which was followed by an 8-3 win by
Matthew Blome over Jackson Ryan. At heavyweight,
Max Villnow finished with a tremendous pinfall victory over Andrew Petersen in overtime.

The Mavericks will be back in action Saturday when they host No. 1 St. Cloud State at Taylor Center. The dual will begin at 2:00 p.m.
