Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State won its second exhibition game this preseason with a deciding 5-0 victory over the Luther Norse on Tuesday night at The Pitch. Five different Mavericks scored in the win as three goalies combined for their second consecutive shutout.

Jenny Vetter continued her strong preseason showing, collecting her fourth goal in the two matches when she scored in the 16th minute off the assist from sophomore forward

Tia Martin being credited with the assist as the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
During a 20-minute spurt in the second half, Minnesota State extended its lead by another three goals with them coming in the 62nd, 67th and 81st minutes. Junior defender

Abby Begin to beat the Norse goaltender. Lowery came back and scored a goal of her own to make the score 4-0 when she took a deflected attempt by Vetter and scored. The final goal came off the foot of sophomore forward

The Mavericks will wrap up their preseason with a scrimmage against Northwest Missouri State on Saturday in Ankeny, Iowa, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Minnesota State's regular season opener will be a neutral site match in Kansas City, Mo., on Sunday, Sept. 8 against Missouri Southern at 1:00 p.m.
