MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State wrestling will travel to Upper Iowa to take part in a match-up pitting two Top-25 programs against one another Friday, at 7:00 p.m.
The Mavericks will travel to Fayette, Iowa holding an overall record of 5-1 record and are 3-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference after defeating MSU Moorhead 36-9 on Jan. 12. Upper Iowa is 6-3 overall with an NSIC record of 2-1. The Peacocks have wins over #7 CSU-Pueblo, #8 Notre Dame College and #15 Lake Erie College at the NWCA National Duals and an NSIC loss to University of Mary by score of 21-19.
Minnesota State defeated Upper Iowa in their last meeting, 25-13, at Taylor Center. The Mavericks won six weight classes while delivering the Peacocks their first conference loss of the season a year ago.

Matthew Blome all picked up victories for Minnesota State.
The Mavericks have two wrestlers ranked nationally at the 184 and 197 pound weight classes. Minnesota State's two returning All-Americans, Corey Abernathy and Matthew Blome, are each rated fifth in their respective weight classes. The Peacocks currently have four wrestlers ranked nationally. They include #5 Maleek Williams at 125, #5 Josh Walker at 133, #12 Brock Benitz at 157 and #2 Logan Hopp at 285.
