MARSHALL, Minn --- Minnesota State (10-4, 6-2) concluded their regular season on Friday with a 31-9 road victory over the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State (7-10, 3-4).
 
After beginning the dual down 3-0, Paul Selman (Fr., 133 lbs.) got the ball rolling for the Mavericks with an 8-4 decision over Antonio Meikel.  With the score tied at three apiece, Alphonso Vruno (Sr., 141 lbs.) defeated Cortez Arredondo in a 15-5 major decision.  Vruno's eighth consecutive win would give the Mavericks a lead that they would not surrender for the rest of the night. 
 
After back to back falls by Daniel Close (Fr., 149 lbs.) and #7 Matt Mincey (R-Sr., 157 lbs.), Minnesota State led by 16.  The Mustangs would take the match at 165-pounds, but #7 Adam Cooling (Jr., 174 lbs.) would give the Mavericks the momentum right back with a 3-2 decision over Kyle Begin. 
 
Scott VanDeLoo (Sr., 184 lbs.) finished 2-0 on the week after defeating Broderick Goens by a 4-2 decision.  Darick Vancura (Jr., 197 lbs.) recorded his sixth pin of the season with a fall over Jake Slocum in 6:58.  Malcolm Allen (R-Sr., 285 lbs.) lost an intense match against #3 Cole Wilson in SV-3, 4-3 to conclude the dual.
 
With the regular season complete, the Mavericks finish third in the NSIC, and are off now until February 27, where the first day of the NCAA Division 2 Super Region III will occur in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
