Minnesota State Owns 13-8-5 Overall Mark After Home Sweep Over Lake Superior State; Franklin Earns WCHA Offensive Player of the Week Honors After Five-Point Weekend; Huggins Allows Just One Goal to Earn WCHA Defensive Player of the Week Recognition; Mavericks Face #3 St. Cloud State in First Game this Weekend and Either Bemidji State or 20th-rated University of Minnesota Saturday

On Tap:    The 19th-rated Minnesota State (13-8-5 overall, 12-3-5 WCHA) Mavericks take a break from league play this weekend as they participate in the North Star College Cup at Xcel Energy Center (18,568) in St. Paul. Minnesota State faces #3 St. Cloud State at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and will play Bemidji State/#20 Minnesota on Sunday (at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation game or 4:00 p.m. in the championship game).

Minnesota State Most Recently: 19th-rated Minnesota State stands 13-8-5 overall, 12-3-5 WCHA after picking up a two-game home WCHA sweep over Lake Superior State this past weekend.

About St. Cloud State:  The Huskies enter this weekend with a 20-5-1 overall record and are 12-3-1 NCHA after downing Western Michigan 8-2 and 7-2 in a pair of league home games last weekend.

Mavericks vs. Huskies:  St. Cloud State is one of Minnesota State's oldest and most-played opponents, with the two programs having faced each other 134 times since the first meeting in 1969-70. Including a pair of losses in St. Cloud earlier this year (4-0, 3-0), the Mavericks own a 69-55-10 record vs. the Huskies.

About Bemidji State:  The Beavers stand 10-10-5 overall, 7-9-4 WCHA following a 3-2 overtime loss and a 1-1 overtime tie in a pair of league contests vs. Ferris State last weekend. BSU has gone 5-1-2 in its last eight games.

Mavericks vs. Beavers: Bemidji State is one of Minnesota State's oldest and most-played opponents, with the two programs having faced each other 117 times since the first meeting in 1974-75. The Mavericks claimed a pair of 3-2 wins in Bemidji in October and own a 48-52-17 all-time record against the Beavers.

About Minnesota:  Having won their last five contests, the Golden Gophers swept the University of Wisconsin last weekend (4-0 and 9-2) and enter this weekend owning a 13-10-0 overall mark along with an 8-2-0 Big 10 record. The North Star College Cup site is located HERE.

Mavericks vs. Gophers: Minnesota State stands 12-36-6 in the all-time series vs. Minnesota and owns a 5-6-0 mark in the last 11 meetings with the Gophers. The two teams met earlier this year in a home-and-home series with Minnesota prevailing in Mankato (4-0) and Minnesota State returning the favor in Minneapolis (3-2 in overtime).
