Minot, N.D.--- The Minnesota State softball team picked up a pair a road victories over Minot State on Sunday afternoon. In game one MSU defeated MISU 6-3, before picking up its second win of the day in game two, 4-2 over the Beavers.
With the sweep, MSU improves its overall record to 32-18 and 17-7 in conference play.
The Mavericks took game one 6-3 over the Beavers, as sophomore
Coley Ries (17-13) pitched all seven innings in the win. Ries struck out seven batters, while giving up seven hits and two earned runs. Mindy Lorimor (19-12) picked up the loss for MISU, as she gave up five earned runs and 13 Maverick hits.
The Beavers struck first after a pass ball that scored a runner from third. MSU answered back with five straight runs of its own. Sophomore
Molly Sager pushed across the first run for the Mavericks after a passed by MISU in the fourth inning, before the Purple and Gold pushed across four more runs in the fifth.

Dana Mogren brought in junior
Karli DesLauriers after a RBI single. Next batter up, sophomore
Ashley Thell ripped a ground-rule double to right field to bring home Mogren and junior
Tatum Klein. Right after that, Sager added to her stat sheet with a RBI single up the middle to score Thell from second.
MISU posted another run in the bottom of the fifth, as MSU added one more run in the seventh, when Sager posted another RBI single to third that pushed Mogren across the plate once again.
The Beavers scored one more run in the seventh, but that was all as MSU picked up the game one win.
Sager led the way with three hits and two RBI in the ball game, while freshman
Alyssa Rickels, Mogren and Klein each collected two hits in the win.
In game two, the Mavericks scored a run a piece in the first and second innings, that was capped off by Thell as she kept her day going with a double to right center to bring in junior
Emily Bransky across the plate.
The Beavers managed to tie the game back up at 2-2, after a solo home run from Alyssa Cornejo and RBI single from Melissa Bell.
MSU answered right back in the top of the sixth, as Thell and Sager continued their impressive days, as they ripped back-to-back solo home runs to give the game two win for the Purple and Gold.
Thell ended the game with two hits and two RBI, while freshman
Jess Meidl also collected two hits in the game, along with a run and a stolen base.
Freshman pitcher
Libby Bemis (15-3) picked up the win for MSU, as she pitched all seven innings and picked up three strikeouts.
The Mavericks will return back to action on Wednesday, as they will take on Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minn. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
