Kronforst’s Two Goals Lifts No. 15 Minnesota State Past Central Oklahoma

Box Score EDMOND, Okla. --- No. 15 Minnesota State scored early and never looked back as they defeated the University of Central Oklahoma by a score of 3-0. Junior Korey Kronforst had a pair of goals to lead the Maverick offense.

With the win MSU moves to 2-0-0 on the season while UCO falls to 0-1-0.

The Mavericks scored just six minutes into the game after a corner kick by senior Emily Moris connected with Kronforst who was able to sneak a header to the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

"It was really important to score that goal early on." said head coach Brian Bahl. "Any time you are on the road and facing a quality opponent it's nice to get the advantage right away especially this early on in the season when we are still trying to figure out our own team's identity."

Kronforst added her second goal of the match in the 20th minute as she was able to get by the Broncho's defense and kick it past the UCO goaltender giving MSU a 2-0 advantage going into the half.

In the second half junior Jessica Bowe scored her first goal of the season off a rebound out in front of the net in the 64th minute to give MSU the 3-0 win.

The Mavericks outshot the Broncho's 20-7 and had 11 shots on goal compared to UCO's 2. MSU's defense produced its second shutout in an as many games this season.

Senior goaltender Molly McGough moves to 2-0-0 on the young season and now has 33 career shutouts.

The Mavericks will continue action on Thursday as they face NSIC foe Concordia-St. Paul in their home opener at 4 p.m. at The Pitch.
