MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State soccer team put up its third shutout in as many games, defeating Hamline University 4-0 in the final exhibition match of the season for the Mavericks.
MSU scored a pair of goals less than a minute apart in the first half. Freshman
Jenny Hoerter scored with 23:23 left off a pass from junior
Korey Kronforst giving MSU the 1-0 advantage. With 22:50 left in the first half,
Emily Moris kicked a crossing pass that found Kronforst right in front as the Mavericks went into the half leading 2-0.
In the second half the Mavericks scored 1:25 in to give MSU the 3-0 advantage. Kronforst blew by the defense and was able to slip it pass the Pipers goalie to score her second goal of the game. With 5:35 remaining MSU would strike again, this time by way of freshman
Abby Nordeen to bring the final score to 4-0.
The Mavericks will open up the regular season on the road as they travel to Oklahoma to face Southwestern Oklahoma State on September 5th and Central Oklahoma on September 7th.
