MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State soccer team won its first exhibition match of the season by defeating Augsburg College by a score of 6-0.
The match was played in three thirty minute periods.
In the first period the MSU scored just six minutes in. Junior
Jessica Bowe had a crossing pass that found sophomore
Kianna Nickel who kicked it in to give the Mavericks the lead at 1-0. Sophomore
Karissa Prpich added two goals giving MSU the 3-0 edge after the first period.
Senior
Sydney Temple added two goals of her own in the second thirty minutes of play, both unassisted, increasing the lead to 5-0 heading into the final stanza.
In the final period junior
Korey Kronforst scored unassisted for the final goal of the match for MSU.
Minnesota State will continue action on Sunday for its second of three exhibition matches of the season as it takes on St. Olaf at 3 p.m., at The Pitch.
