Minnesota State Falls at #7 Upper Iowa

Fayette, Iowa – Minnesota State Wrestling dropped a 26-12 decision at #7 Upper Iowa Friday, falling to the host Peacocks 26-12.

MSU falls to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in NSIC play. UIU moves up to 14-1-1 on the season and 6-0 in conference action.

The Mavericks lost six of the 10 matches on the night including giving up two falls and two major decisions.

Alphonso Vruno (So., 141 lbs.) and Scott VanDeLoo (So., 184 lbs.) each won their respective weight class with decisions. Vruno defeated Jordan Roths by a score of 10-5 while VanDeLoo defeated Brock Gobin 1-0.

Adam Cooling (Fr., 157 lbs.) won his seventh-straight match with a decision win over Zak Benitz, 3-2. Darick Vancura (Fr., 165 lbs.) ended up on the losing end in a sudden victory, 3-1. Brendan Eichmann (Sr., 174 lbs.) beat Trevor Duke by a score of 9-2.
