Jean-Paul Lafontaine in gaining a 4-0 home Western Collegiate Hockey Association victory over Alabama Huntsville Saturday in Mankato.

Jean-Paul Lafontaine and
Johnny McInnis staked the Mavericks to a 2-0 first period lead. The goal by Lafontaine, which came at 4:22 is his 100
th career point. McInnis notched his 17
th goal at 7:26 with the Mavericks on the power play.
Lafontaine picked up his 14
th power play goal of the season when he connected at 17:27 of the middle period and after two periods of action the Mavericks owned a 3-0 lead.
Junior
Chase Grant charted his sixth goal of the year at 14:28 of the third when he beat UAH freshman Carmine Guerriero on a break away to close out the scoring in the game.
Minnesota State sophomore goaltender
Stephon Williams earned his fifth career shut-out as the Mavericks outshot the Chargers by a 65-10 margin. The last time Minnesota State had at least 60 shots on goal in a game was Dec. 28, 2002 when the Mavericks had 60 vs. American International.

Matt Leitner and senior forward
Zach Lehrke both finished with two assists.
The game was played in front of 3,987 fans as the Mavericks completed the two-game home sweep.
MSU, which has won its last five games, now stands 19-13-0, 17-7-0 WCHA for 2013-14. The Chargers fall to 1-30-0, 1-21-1 WCHA.
The Mavericks are idle next weekend before taking on Lake Superior State in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Feb. 28 and March 1.
