Matt Leitner had a goal and three assists in leading Minnesota State to a 5-1 win at Northern Michigan in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action Saturday in Marquette, Mich.

Mathias Dahlstrom with the Mavericks on the power play at 18:15 and Minnesota State led 1-0 after the first period of action.
MSU opened up a 3-0 lead in the second period when
McInnis tallied at 7:08 after Lafontaine had gained control of the puck behind the net. Then with the Mavericks on the power play, Leitner tallied off of a rebound at 15:32. Northern Michigan got on the board at 18:23 on a penalty shot goal by
Erik Higby. The last time the Mavericks gave up a penalty shot goal was Oct. 21, 2005 when Minnesota's
Phil Kessell tallied on
Chris Clark.
Sophomore forward
Bryce Gervais got this seventh goal of the season at 3:30 of the third when he wristed a shot past Dahlstrom with the Mavericks shorthanded.
Minnesota State stands 15-13-0 overall with tonight's loss and is 13-7-0 in WCHA games. The Mavericks outshot the Wildcats in the game by a 30-17 margin.
The Mavericks return to Mankato to face Bemidji State in a pair of league games at Verizon Wireless Center next Friday and Saturday.
