Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- The second-rated Minnesota State soccer team had a plethora of scoring chances but scored just one goal in a 1-0 victory over Northern State on Sunday at The Pitch.

With the win the Mavericks moved to 10-0-0 on the season and 7-0-0 in the NSIC which is the best start in school history. The Wolves drop to 4-6-0 and 3-4-0 on the league circuit.

MSU also increases its home regular season unbeaten streak to 33 matches going 29-0-4 during a span that goes back to 2010.

The Mavericks put on some pressure very early on in the match and got the momentum on their side as they tested Northern State goalkeeper Brittany Tietz often. MSU was able to finally get one past Tietz in the 25th minute. Senior Emily Moris found sophomore Kiana Nickel in front of the net to score the only goal of the match.

The Mavericks defense was all over the field and kept MSU in the offensive zone for most of the match. MSU outshot the Wolves 32-1 and had 13 shots on goal while NSU had none. The Mavericks also held a 12-0 advantage on corner kicks.

Senior Molly McGough produced her fifth shutout of the year as she saw one shot against her all afternoon and improves her record to 8-0-0 on the season.

The Mavericks will hit the road next weekend as they travel to Minot State on Saturday before heading to the University of Mary on Sunday.
