The Wildcats took a 3-1 lead early in the third period on goals by
Ryan Kesti at 4:26 and
John Siemer at 5:40, but the Mavericks cut the lead by one after junior forward
Chase Grant beat Dahlstrom at 7:59 for his fourth goal of the season. Then at 14:53
Dominic Shine put in a rebound to make it 4-2 in favor of the host team. The Wildcats closed out the scoring in the game with an empty net shorthanded tally at 19:39.
Minnesota State stands 14-13-0 overall with tonight's loss and is 12-7-0 in WCHA games. The Mavericks were outshot in the game by a 31-26 margin.
The Mavericks and the Wildcats close out the two-game league series Saturday night with a 7:07 p.m. face-off scheduled.
