MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota State wrestling couldn't bounce back from their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference loss earlier this week as the Augustana Vikings defeated the Mavericks, 30-10, on Saturday night at Taylor Center.

With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 2-6 overall and 2-2 in NSIC play, while the Vikings improve to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC.

After the Mavericks forfeited their first weight class, they found themselves down 12 points after Trevor Schultz (Fr., 133 lbs.) suffered a pinfall to Morgan Engbrecht at the 2:30 mark.

Alphonso Vruno (So., 141 lbs.) gave the Mavericks their first points of the night after a 17-9 major decision over Jacob Anderson. The 149 lbs., match gave the momentum back to Augustana after their second pinfall of the night by Shawn Hatlestad over Jeremy Kelly (Jr., 149 lbs.).

Adam Cooling's (Fr., 157 lbs.) 10-7 decision win gave him his 20^th win of the season, fifth in a row, and brought the Mavericks deficit to 18-7.

The turning point of the dual was when Sawyer Hoffman (So., 165 lbs.) lost to Parker Swanson by a 3-1 decision, putting MSU's third NSIC win out of reach. Darick Vancura (Fr., 174 lbs.) gave the Mavericks three more points after a 3-2 victory.

Saturday night's dual ended with three Vikings victories as Scott VanDeLoo (So., 184 lbs.), Brendan Eichmann (Sr., 197) and Corby Running (Sr., 285) all suffered decision losses.

The Purple and Gold head to Marshall, Minn., to take on the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs on Feb. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
