Johnny McInnis scored in overtime to give the host Mavericks to a 1-0 win in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action in Mankato Saturday.
After both teams failed to score through the first three periods, junior forward
Jean-Paul Lafontaine headmanned the puck to McInnis in the neutral zone where the Boston, Mass., native picked up speed across the blue line before wristing a shot that beat BGSU netminder

The goal is the third in three games for McInnis and is his ninth career game-winning goal. It is also his second career overtime game-winning goal (the other came in a 5-4 OT win over Nebraska Omaha his his sophomore year).

Cole Huggins stopped all 33 BGSU shots in the game in recording his first career shut-out.
Minnesota State, which was penalized six times for 12 minutes in the game, went 0-3 on the power play.
Bowling Green, which now stands 5-3-2, 3-1-0 for 2013-14, went zero-for-three in power play chances on the night. The game was played in front of 3,657 fans at Verizon Wireless Center.
The Mavericks, who are 4-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 WCHA for the year, are at Minnesota next Friday and Saturday for a pair of nonconference games in their next action.
