Mavericks Open Season with Win Against South Dakota

10/12/2013 5:19:00 PM

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team began its 2013-14 season on a high note Saturday afternoon as it defeated South Dakota at home 152.5-147.5.

"It's early in our season, so competing against USD, a very quality opponent, there were a lot of question marks with our team," said head coach Nathan Owens. "It's hard to know how teams will match up with each other early in the year, because we haven't seen our team race much it's hard to know what athletes to put in each event to make a strong line-up. The girls performed very well today from and individual and team standpoint."
