MSU used three second-period goals to take control of the contest. Sophomore defenseman
Zach Palmquist scored with a shot along the ice at the seven-minute mark and was followed at 10:30 when senior blueliner
Evan Mosey’s bullet from the point beat Kamal. It became a 4-0 Maverick lead at 17:51 when Palmquist got his second of the nite (and fifth of the season with MSU on the power play.
Neither team dented the twine in the third period as the Mavericks closed out the win.
Freshman netminder
Stephon Williams was credited with 18 stops in registering his fourth shut-out of the year and MSU is now 12-3-1 mark in its last 16 games.
Now 15-8-3 overall on the season and 9-8-1 WCHA, Minnesota State outshot the Seawolves by a 28-18 margin in the game. The Mavericks converted on two-of-four power play chances while UAA went zero-for-six.
Minnesota State returns to the lower 48 for a pair of league games vs. #1-rated Minnesota next weekend with the Mavericks and the Gophers playing in Minneapolis Friday and Mankato Saturday.
