Scouting the Marauders: U-Mary (3-4-0, 3-2-0 NSIC) failed to score a goal last weeknd as it fell 0-2 to both Winona State and Upper Iowa. The Marauders have compiled a 3-2 record at home this season.
Three Marauders have scored all but one point for U-Mary this season as Michelle Jones, Alex Bachman-Williams, and Andrea Muller have scored two goals a piece. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Akers has started six of seven matches earning a earning a 1.27 GAA and one shutout this year. U-Mary has been outscored 6-10 this season and 1-7 in the second half.
Inside the MSU/U-Mary Series: Minnesota State has never lost to U-Mary in six games fielding a 4-0-2 all-time record. MSU has outscored the Marauders 13-3 including a 4-1 victory last season in Mankato.
Scouting the Beavers: Minot State (5-2-1, 3-2-0 NSIC) went 1-1 last weekend falling to Upper Iowa 0-1 before handing Winona State its first conference loss, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. Minot State is 12th nationally in goals against average 0.48 while outscoring opponents 13-4 upto this point. Head coach Jason Spain is in his third year at the helm for the MISU soccer program.
Sophomore midfielder Zoe Fischer is tied for the conference-lead with six goals and tied for third with 13 points this season. Fischer is fifth in the country with three game-winning goals. Senior goalkeeper Maria Torres ranks ninth nationally in save percentage (0.920) and 22nd in goals against average (0.52) while starting every game this year.
Inside the MSU/MISU Series: Sunday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting on the pitch for both teams. Minot State tied Central Missouri 0-0 (9/8), the only team to defeat the Mavericks - a 2-1 loss in Warrensburg, Mo. (9/2) - so far this season.
Home Sweet Home: The Mavericks are 5-0-1 at the Pitch at Gage Towers this season and currently in the midst of a school-record 19 game home unbeaten streak dating back to 2010.
