Korey Kronforst’s first career goal wasn’t enough as Central Missouri scored a goal in the 87th minute to defeat MSU 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
After a scoreless first half, senior Aaryn Burke put Central Missouri on the board in the 50th minute putting a breakaway goal into the left side of the net.
Minnesota State knotted up the game at one in the 77th minute when Kronforst took a pass from senior forward
Brittany Henry and slid it past the left post for her first collegiate goal.
The Jennies answered back when senior Kayla Shain put a crossing pass into the net giving Central Missouri a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
MSU outshot Central Missouri 9-7 in the match.
The Mavericks will host the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears Sept. 6th in the NSIC opener for both teams at the Pitch at Gage Towers.
