Box Score Mankato, Minn. --- Three different Minnesota State soccer players scored their first goal as a Maverick as MSU defeated Minnesota-Crookston 3-1 Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in the NSIC.
MSU got the scoring started in the 25th minute when junior midfielder
Caitlin Graboski put senior midfielder
Cassie Weik’s corner kick into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
In the 40th minute, the Mavericks added to their lead when junior defense
Haley Petterson scored her first career goal off a corner kick from fellow senior defense
Lianna Morrow.
Three minutes later sophomore forward
Jessica Bowe scored the first goal of her career thanks to two assists from freshman forward
Korey Kronforst and sophomore midfielder
Sydney Temple.
The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard in the 71st minute when senior Carly Mirwaldt snuck a rebound past freshman goalkeeper
Lauren Hoeppner.
With the win, Minnesota State is one game shy of tying a school-record for home unbeaten streak. The Mavericks are undefeated in their last 16 games at home sporting a 14-0-2 record in that span dating back to 2010.
The Mavericks (3-1-1, 2-0-0 NSIC) resume action Sunday at 1 p.m. against Bemidji State (3-1-0, 1-0-0 NSIC) at the Pitch at Gage Towers.
