About the MSU-UAA Series: MSU played the Seawolves in Mankato Nov. 25 and 26 with UAA gaining a 5-4 win in the first game and the two teams playing to a 5-5 tie in the next contest. MSU stands 33-23-8 all-time in the series vs. UAA.
Most Recently: Its fifth consecutive weekend split (5-3 win and 7-3 loss to visiting Michigan Tech) gives Minnesota State a 10-19-1 overall record and 6-15-1 WCHA mark on the season. MSU has gone 5-4-0 in its last nine games and dating back to Dec. 9-10 when it swept Alabama-Huntsville in a nonconference home series, MSU has gone 7-7-0 in it’s last 14 contests.
About Alaska Anchorage: The Seawolves enter the series with the Mavericks standing 7-17-2 overall, 4-17-1 WCHA on the year. UAA, which has gone 2-8-0 in its last ten contests, split a home league series with #3-rated Minnesota Duluth last weekend in its most-recent action.
Standing atop the UAA scoring charts is junior forward in Mitch Bruijsten (8-6--14) and senior defenseman Curtis Leinweber (7-5--12). Sophomore forwards Matt Bailey (6-5--11) and Brett Cameron (4-7--11) round out the top four scorers.
A pair of sophomores in Chris Kamal (3-9-0, 3.57, .866) and Rob Gunderson (4-7-2, 3.55, .880) have split the UAA netminding duties in 2011-12.
