Minnesota State closes out the 2011-12 regular season with a road series at #14 North Dakota this Friday and Saturday

On Tap: Minnesota State (12-20-2 overall, 8-16-2 WCHA) concludes regular-season action with a two-game road WCHA series vs. #14 North Dakota (18-12-3 overall, 14-11-1 WCHA) this weekend. Face-off at UND’s Engelstad (11,640) is slated for 7:37 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday (CST).

About the MSU-UND Series: This weekend’s games between the two schools represent the only games of 2011-12 between MSU and UND. UND, which has won the last seven meetings between the two schools, leads the series 34-10-7.

Most Recently: The Mavericks did not play this past weekend. The last time they did, MSU went 0-1-1 in a pair of league games played in Mankato vs. Minnesota Duluth Feb. 17-18.

About North Dakota: Currently rated 14th in one poll and 15th in another (see polls on page 5 of this release), the Sioux enter the series with the Mavericks standing 18-12-3 overall, 14-11-1 WCHA on the year after splitting a league road series at the University of Denver last weekend. UND, which won 4-3 Friday before dropping a 5-3 decision to the Pioneers Saturday, have gone 7-5-1 in their last 13 contests.

Sophomore forward Brock Nelson tops the UND scoring charts with 22-26--38 and is followed by junior forward Danny Kristo (15-21--36), junior forward Corban Knight (12-20--32), junior forward Carter Rowney (16-9--25) and freshman defenseman Nick Mattson (5-11--16).

Junior Aaron Dell, who has started 24 of UND’s 33 games, owns 9-8-0, 2.78 and .899 numbers.
