Box Score Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State won for the fourth consecutive time with a 6-1 win over visiting Bemidji State Saturday in Mankato.
The Mavericks, who had skated to a 3-0 victory over the Beavers Friday, tallied four power play goals in the dominating victory.
Sophomore defenseman
Brett Stern got things rolling at 5:59 of the first with his first career goal coming after he collected a rebound and wristed a shot past
Mathieu Dugas. Junior forward
Johnny McInnis made it 2-0 at 12:21 with a power play goal and sophomore forward
Chase Grant's power play goal at 15:10 of the second made it 3-0. Sophomore forward
Matt Leitner's even-strength tally at the 17-minute mark of the second gave the Mavericks a 4-0 lead. Junior forward
Josh Nelson's power play goal at 7:23 of the third and a goal from senior forward
Eriah Hayes at 7:23 (his team-leading eighth of the year), rounded out the scoring for MSU.
Danny Mattson scored for BSU at 13:07 closed out the scoring in the game.
The Mavericks, who outshot the Beavers by a 32-18 margin in the game, have now won four games in conference play for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
Stern also had an assist in the game for a two-point night and sophomore forward
Teddy Blueger was credited with three assists. Leitner has extended his point-scoring streak to eight games (3-9--12), Hayes owns a six-game point scoring streak (6-2--8) and freshman forward
Dylan Margonari is riding a five-game streak (2-5--7).
The Mavericks, who host Alaska Anchorage next Friday and Saturday, are now 7-5-2 overall and 5-5-0 WCHA. BSU drops to 3-7-2, 2-6-2 WCHA.
