Cassie Weik hooked up for the game’s lone goal as Minnesota State stayed perfect in NSIC competition besting Wayne State 1-0 for its eight consecutive win and 21st straight at home.
As MSU celebrated senior day for the nine on this year’s roster, two of them stepped up when Weik lofted a perfect corner kick into the box that Dooher headed over goalkeeper
Courtney True in the 13th minute giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
Minnesota State outshot the Wildcats 15-1 in the first half but was unable to extend its lead.
The Mavericks continued to control the pace of play and time of possession in the second half but True turned away multiple MSU opportunites.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Molly McGough recorded one save to extend her scoreless streak to seven matches as MSU outshot Wayne State 28-1 overall.
Minnesota State (10-1-1, 9-0-0 NSIC) begins a four-match road trip heading to Minnesota -Duluth Friday Oct. 12th with kick off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
