Box Score Mankato, Minn. --- Four different Mavericks scored as the third-ranked Minnesota State women’s soccer team stormed into the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference semifinals with a 5-0 victory over visiting Minnesota Duluth, Wednesday afternoon at the Pitch at Gage Towers.

The Bulldogs came out ready to play outshooting the Mavericks 3-0 in the match’s opening minutes. However, two MSU seniors stepped up in the 17th minute when Cassie Weik launched a perfect corner kick to Nicole Dooher who soared over the UMD back line and headed in her eighth goal of the season.

Four minutes later, Minnesota State continued the offensive onslaught as junior Tori Meinhardt and sophomore Emily Moris each collected their fourth goals of the year, coincidentally four minutes apart.

Freshman Korey Kronforst joined the act in the 46th minute when she slammed home a rebound after a Bulldog defender saved a Nicole Dooher shot inside the box. She wasn’t done, as she struck twine for the second time in the 81st minute off assists from sophomores Breanna Steele and Jessica Bowe.

Sophomore goalkeeper Molly McGough stopped all six UMD shots on goal for her 13th shutout in a match that saw the Mavericks outshoot the Bulldogs 13-9.

Minnesota State (16-1-2, 14-0-1 NSIC) hosts the winner of U-Mary and Minot State Friday afternoon in the NSIC semifinals, with kick off set for 2 p.m.
