Box Score Sioux Falls, S.D.  --- The Minnesota State women’s soccer team brought its winning streak to 12 games - one shy of the school-record - dropping Sioux Falls 2-0 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match Sunday afternoon on the campus of USF.

The Maverick offense was clicking from the get go when 84 seconds into the match junior Tori Meinhardt beat USF netminder Samantha Maybon on the left side off a crossing pass from senior Brianne West giving MSU a quick 1-0 lead.

Minnesota State was unable to build on the advantage but remained in the driver’s seat outshooting the Cougars 12-0 at the break.

The Mavericks built on their lead in the 53rd minute on a pretty play as sophomore Emily Moris played a header to senior Nicole Dooher who slammed her sixth goal of the year home on the right side.

Sophomore goaltender Molly McGough recorded her eleventh shutout on the year which ties the single-season MSU mark.  MSU dominated the match from start to finish oustooting the Cougars by a 28-0 margin.

With the victory, Minnesota State improves to a perfect 13-0-0 in NSIC play and remains in first-place in the Northern Sun standings. MSU has never won a regular-season NSIC championship.

The Mavericks (14-1-1, 13-0-0 NSIC) return home to the Pitch at Gage Towers Friday Oct. 26th at 1 p.m. for a showdown with Winona State that is likely to determine the NSIC regular-season champion.
