Box Score Marshall, Minn.  --- The Minnesota State women’s soccer team extended its winning streak to eleven straight matches by defeating Southwest Minnesota State 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Marshall. Sophomore goalkeeper Molly McGough earned the 21st shutout of her career breaking assistant coach Sheila Reynolds’ mark.

The Mavericks got off to a fast start outshooting the Mustangs 15-0 in the first half.  They were able to break through in the 27th minute when senior Brianne West blasted her sixth goal of the year past netminder Sonya Smith.
 
Minnesota State built on its lead in the 59th minute when senior Brittany Henry notched her fifth goal of the year, bringing her one shy of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference all-time record. Junior Tori Meinhardt recorded an assist on the marker.
 
McGough tallied two saves in a second stanza that saw MSU outshoot SMSU by a slim margin 6-3.
 
With the victory, Minnesota State improves to a perfect 12-0-0 in NSIC play.

The Mavericks (13-1-1, 12-0-0 NSIC) conclude this weekend’s action with a 12 p.m. contest against new-NSIC member the University of Sioux Falls Cougars in Sioux Falls tomorrow afternoon.
