It's Mavericks vs. Mavericks in Mankato This Weekend

On Tap: Minnesota State (7-16-1 overall, 3-12-1 WCHA) continues Western Collegiate Hockey Association action in hosting the University of Nebraska Omaha (11-9-4 overall, 8-5-3 WCHA) this weekend. Face-off at Verizon Wireless Center (4,852) is slated for 7:37 p.m. Friday and 7:07 p.m. Saturday.

About the MSU-UNO Series: These games represent the only regular-season games between the two schools. The last win in the series for MSU was in 2008-09, with the Mavericks going 0-3-2 in the five games vs. UNO since then. Minnesota State stands 14-9-5 all-time in the series with UNO.

Most Recently: Now 7-16-1 overall and 2-12-1 after splitting a Western Collegiate Hockey Association series with visiting Wisconsin (4-0 loss, 3-0 win), MSU has gone 4-4-0 in its last eight contests.

About Nebraska Omaha: UNO stands 11-9-4 overall, 8-5-3 WCHA on the year after a weekend in which it split a home series with #1-rated Minnesota Duluth. The Mavericks claimed a 3-1 win last Saturday after UMD had snagged a 6-2 victory the night before. UNO enters the weekend with four wins and a tie in its last seven games.

UNO is led offensively by sophomore forward Matt White (11-18--29). Junior forward Terry Broadhurst (14-11--25) and freshman forward Jayson Megna (7-14--21) round out the top three scorers.

Senior John Faulkner (5-5-1, .876, 3.10) has started 12 of 24 games in net, with freshman Ryan Massa (5-3-1, .919, 2.33) getting nine starts.
