Box Score Mankato, Minn.-- The Minnesota State women’s soccer team beat the University of Mary 4-1 on Sunday at the Pitch at Gage Towers. The four Maverick goals were scored by MSU juniors in its sixth win of the season.
The Mavericks scored early as Nicole Dooher put MSU up 1-0 in the sixth minute of the game. Dooher’s sixth goal of the season was assisted byBrittany Henry.
In the 31st minute of the game, Henry scored her fourth game-winning goal of the season as the Marauder keeper misplayed the ball for an open net goal. Juniors Cassie Weik and Brianne West earned the assists on the goal.
U-Mary’s Andrea Muller scored in the 50th minute of the game as the Marauders tried to climb its way back into the game. MSU outshot the Marauders 14-2 in the contest.
Minnesota State gained its two goal lead back when midfielder Brianne West scored in the 83rd minute. West’s goal was assisted by Henry for her second assist of the game and season.
MSU’s Weik sealed the game on tremendous corner kick that curled to the far corner of the net for her first goal of the season. Minnesota State freshman goalkeeper Molly McGough made one save in the game. MSU outshot the Marauders 14-2 in the contest.
Minnesota State’s (6-1-1, 4-0-0 NSIC) next action will be when it faces Southwest Minnesota State on Oct. 2 in Marshall, Minn.
