Mankato, Minn. --- A pair of Minnesota State Baseball mainstays made appearances in the 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game July 18 that was played in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
The
Northwoods League is a summer baseball league comprised of 16 teams of the top college players from across the nation and North America. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate.
Righthanded pitcher
Blake Schwartz, who is in his second season with the Mankato Moondogs of the NWL, started the game for the North team and retired the three batters he faced. Schwartz, who got the win as a result of his performance at the game, currently leads the NWL in strike outs (57), ranks fourth in earned run average (154) and is tied for second with five wins. A two-time All-American for Minnesota State, Schwartz heads into his senior season with the Mavericks owning a career record of 24-5 with a 3.16 ERA.
Righthanded pitcher
Ben Kincaid, who is toiling with Eau Claire this summer, pitched 2/3 of relief for the South at the game and did not allow any hits or runs while striking out one and walking one. Kincaid, who owns a career .337 batting average for MSU and is 8-5 on the mound for the Mavericks, currently is 2-2 with a 3.13 ERA for the summer with Eau Claire.
