McGahey Records 50th Win at Minnesota State

Mankato, Minn.- Minnesota State University Head Women’s Soccer Coach Peter McGahey recorded his 50^th win as MSU cruised to a 3-0 victory over Augustana College Sunday afternoon at the Pitch at Gage Towers.

The Mavericks controlled the pace of play throughout the first half, as sophomore forward Courtney Vallarelli scored at the six minute mark in the match giving the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.

Sophomore midfielder Tori Meinhardt scored in the 29^th minute and the 34^th minute for her fourth and fifth goals of the season. Junior Brianne West assisted all three Maverick goals as she now has ten assists on the season. Junior Brittany Henry also assisted Meinhardt’s first goal.

The Mavericks finished the contest with 12 shots on goal as Augustana finished with two. MSU goalkeeper Molly McGough tallied her fourth shutout of the season, strengthening her goals against average to 0.71.

The Mavericks (10-1-1, 7-0-0 NSIC) seek to continue their nine-game winning-streak as the travel to Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday, October 15^th at 1pm.
