Box Score Mankato, Minn.— Twenty-first ranked Minnesota State (9-1-1) beat Wayne State (3-6-2) 4-0 Saturday afternoon to improve its winning-streak to eight games.
Junior forward
Brittany Henry once again tallied the game-winner as she scored the lone goal of the first half. Henry juked the goalkeeper after a pass from
Emily Moris in the eighth minute to put MSU up 1-0. Henry now has six game-winners and nine goals this season.
Vallarelli scored her fourth goal of the season on a long pass from
Ashley Sykora six minutes into the second half. Sophomore
Tori Meinhardt also tallied an assist on the goal.
MSU’s Brianne West scored her fourth goal of the season in the 63
rd minute from a Brittany Henry pass. The Mavericks capped off its scoring as senior
Sarah Schellinger put a rocket off the crossbar and dropped in the net in the 67
th minute four MSU’s fourth goal of the game.
Freshman goalkeeper
Molly McGough earned her third solo shutout of the season, turning away two Wildcat shots. McGough now owns a 0.71 goals against average in her 11 starts. McGough and the MSU defense have let up just two goals in its last seven games.
Minnesota State returns to action tomorrow against the Augustana Vikings at 1 p.m., at the Pitch at Gage Towers.
