Mankato, Minn.— MSU begins its season on the road when they will play Ferris State on Sept. 3 in Big Rapids, Mich., and Grand Valley State on Sept. 5 in Grand Valley, Mich. The Mavericks open up at home against Regis, Friday, September 10, at The Pitch At Gage.
About Ferris State:The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-13-2 season, which lead them to finish seventh in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs are returning nine starters from last season. Ferris State is lead by junior forward Bri Borgman, who had ten goals last season.
MSU/ Ferris State History: Friday's match will be the second time the two teams meet. The First match-up in, 2009, MSU defeated the Ferris State 6-0.
About Grand Valley State: The Lakers won the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship. The Lakers owned a 22-0-4 record last season, and a 13-0-1 in the GLIAC. Ashley Potts lead the Lakers last season in her freshman year with 35 points. The Lakers have three returning sophomores who each tallied more than 10 goals last season.
