MSU Tramples Past Golden Bears

Mankato, Minn.-- The Minnesota State soccer team continued its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Sunday, beating Concordia University 3-1.

Concordia scored early at 3:22 , with a free kick by Kim Sauberlich. MSU outshot the Golden Bears in the first half 11-3.

Ashley Sykora put the Mavericks on the scoreboard at 65:46, which marks her first goal of the season. Nicole Dooher was credited with her third assist of the season. With little time wasted, Dooher netted her first goal of the season at 67:45 to give the Mavericks the lead.

Maverick forward Brittany Henry boosted MSU to a two goal lead after she found the back of the net at the 76:37 mark. MSU posted 23 shots with 11 shots on goal in the game. Concordia ended the day with five shots and two on goal.

Sophomore Goaltender Chelsey Eley earned her second straight win, improving her record to 3-3-0. Eley owns a goals against average of 2.0 on the season.

MSU is 2-0-0 in NSIC play, with a 3-3-0 overall record. The Mavericks hit the road next weekend to face University of Mary Friday, then Sunday will play at Northern State.
