Box Score Mankato, Minn.-- The Minnesota State women's soccer team opened its Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule Saturday afternoon. with a 1-0 win over St. Cloud State.
St. Cloud outshot the Mavericks 3-1 after 45 minutes of play, with neither team able to score.
In the second half, senior Jessie Audas scored at 56:45, after the ball hit the post and dropped in the net. This was her first goal on the season and marks Audas' eighth career goal. Sophomore Nicole Dooher was credited with the assist, giving her two assists on the season.
MSU played a physical game gaining 14 fouls, St. Cloud State reached seven during the match. The Mavericks outshot the Huskies 6-5 shots on goal.
Minnesota State Goaltender Chelsey Eley was credited with the win making five saves on the day.
The Mavericks are 1-0-0 in the NSIC and 2-3-0 overall. MSU continues NSIC action Sunday against Concordia at 1 p.m., at The Pitch at Gage Towers.
