Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State hosted rival St. Cloud State Friday night at the Verizon Center  in Mankato and bolstered by three-point efforts from junior forward Rylan Galiardi and junior defenseman Kurt Davis, came away with a 4-2 win over the fourth-rated Huskies.

MSU used a four-goal first period en route to the win over its Western Collegiate Hockey Association rival.
Galiardi beat SCSU goaltender Dan Dunn on a breakaway to open the scoring for MSU at 1:10 of the opening frame. He once again found the back of the net, converting the back end of a one-timer set up by Davis for the first of three straight power play goals for the Mavericks. Freshman Tyler Pitlick also assisted on Galiardi’s second goal of the night.
Davis and right winger Mike Louwerse completed the first period scoring barrage for MSU as they both capitalized with the extra skater with Davis tallying at 13:25 and Louwerse, who scored his seventh goal of the season at 18:03. Michael Dorr assisted on both goals for MSU.
