Box Score Mankato, Minn.-- Minnesota State scored three goals in the first half, extending its winning streak to six games, with a 3-0 victory over Minnesota State Moorhead.
With the only goals in the game being scored in the first half, Maverick forward
Brittany Henry was able to tap the ball in during the eighth minute when the Dragon goalkeeper Allison Wanner mishandled a ball. In the 20th minute of the game, Henry capitalized on an excellent pass from
Jessie Audas. This is Henry's third two-goal game in the last three weeks, which gives her a team-leading eight goals this season.
The Mavericks earned a penalty kick in the 39th minute from a foul committed off a MSU corner kick.
Nicole Dooher took the kick and hit the lace in the back of the net, marking her sixth goal this season. Minnesota State had four shots on goal in the first half, as MSU Moorhead had one.
Neither team could generate a goal in the second half. MSU outshot the dragons 19-8 in the game, with the shots on goal being 8-3, favoring the Mavericks.
Chelsey Eley got the start for the Mavericks, as she faced one shot and improved her record to 6-3-1 this season.
Brittany Cygan played the second half making two saves. This marks the Maverick's sixth shutout of the season, giving up only two goals in the last six games.
