Mankato, Minn.-- Minnesota State upended Minnesota, Crookston in its breast cancer awareness game, beating the Golden Eagles 7-1.
With lots of action early, the Mavericks capitalized first with a goal by
Laura Leber at 1:04 in the first half. The MSU goal was assisted by
Nicole Dooher, which is good for her fourth assist of the season. Moments later, the Golden Eagles flew past the Mavericks to even the score at 1:32, on a goal scored by Ashley Sletten.
In the next 20 minutes, Leber would score two more goals to give her a natural hat trick. The second goal being unassisted, while the third goal was assisted by fellow senior
Jessie Audas. Leber now has five goals this season and one assist.

nn Kincaid pounded her first two goals of the season in before the first half was over. The first goal came in the 26th minute, while the second came in the 41st minute with assists going to
Ashley Sykora and
Sydney Temple. Minnesota State led 5-1 at the end of the first half and tallied eight shots on goal in the first half, compared to Minnesota, Crookston with one.
The Mavericks kept scoring as they added two more goals and booted ten shots on goal in the second half. Dooher scored her fifth goal of the season in the 54th minute,
Sarah Schellinger and
Brianne West earned the assists. Sophomore defender
Lianna Morrow scored the Mavericks seveth goal at 77:37, with the assists going to
Courtney Vallarelli and
Makayla Grady. Minnesota State outshot Minnesota, Crookston 33-2 on shot attempts.
MSU goalkeepers
Brittany Cygan and
Chelsey Eley each played a half in the game. Cygan earned the win as she played the first half and faced one shot. Eley played the second half but the Golden Eagles failed to put a shot on her.
The Mavericks, winners of their last five, improve their record to 8-4-1 this season with a 6-1-1 record in the NSIC. Minnesota State will play fellow NSIC team Minnesota State, Moorhead at 1 p.m. in Mankato at the Pitch at Gage Towers.
