Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women’s swimming and diving team suffered a 152-142 loss to Nebraska-Omaha Friday evening in the Highland Pool on the campus of Minnesota State University.
The Mavericks won five events in the dual. Junior Angela Krych won both the 50-yard backstroke (:28.19) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.30), while sophomore Kaitlin Ogden won the 50-yard backstroke in :31.07.
On the diving board junior Janel Duffy won both the one-meter dive (197.90) and the three meter dive (219.50).
Several Mavericks swam to top-five finishes on the day, including: freshman Marissa Reeve (1,000-yard freestyle, second, 10:41.00; 100-yard freestyle, second, :55.01; 500-yard freestyle, second, 5:20.50), senior Ana Arnold (1,000-yard freestyle, fourth, 11:10.48; 500-yard freestyle, third, 5:25.54), junior Kristen Hayes (200-yard freestyle, second, 1:57.75; 100-yard freestyle, second, :55.01), junior Claire Bergman (200-yard freestyle, fourth, 2:01.79; 100-yard breaststroke, fifth, 1:11.18), sophomore Jesse Stanton (200-yard freestyle, fifth, 2:06.33; 100-yard freestyle, fourth, :57.21), junior Adienne Vida (50-yard backstroke, third, :30.02; third, 100-yard backstoke, third, 1:03.63; 200-yard IM, fifth, 2:19.25), junior BrieAnna Simon (50-yard backstroke, fifth, :31.36), freshman Alyssa Kuffel (50-yard breaststroke, :32.05; 100-yard breaststroke, 1:1.17), freshman Tabby Temperley (100-yard butterfly, second, 1:01.12; 20-yard IM, second, 2:14.31), sophomore Emily Timm (100-yard butterfly, third, 1:02.42; 50-yard butterfly, fifth, :28.47), freshman Sarah Iannacone (100-yard butterfly, fifth, 1:05.56), junior Kim Christensen (50-yard freestyle, second, :25.27), sophomore Stefanie Edwards (50-yard freestyle, fifth, :25.73), senior Rachel Busch (100-yard backstroke, fourth, 1:05.42; 200-yard IM, third, 2:19.19), Ogden (100-yard breaststroke, second, 1:09.62), sophomore Beth Keskey (three-meter dive, second, 2;02.20; one-meter dive, second, 185), freshman Cristen Norman (three-meter dive, third, 192.40) and freshman Catherine Mahoney (third, one-meter dive, 177.45).
The Mavericks “A” 200-yard medley relay team finished second in 1:51.08, while the “B” relay team finished third in 1:55.05. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the “A” team finished second in 3:40.20 and the “B” finished in third in 3:47.60.
Minnesota State travels to the UW-Stevens Point Invite next weekend.
