Minnesota State hosts Michigan Tech in a pair of WCHA games this weekend

Mavericks Entertain Huskies at Verizon This Friday and Saturday

On Tap:    Minnesota State (4-7-1 overall, 2-7-1 WCHA) continues Western Collegiate Hockey Association action with a pair of league home games with Michigan Tech (3-7-0 overall, 2-6-0 WCHA) this weekend.  The Mavericks and the Huskies square-off at Verizon Wireless Center (4,832) in downtown Mankato Friday (7:37 p.m.) and Saturday (7:07 p.m.). 

About the MSU-MTU Series:   MSU is 20-12-3 all-time vs. MTU including a 3-0-1 mark in the last four games. Junior defenseman Kurt Davis is MSU’s current active scoring leader in games vs. the Huskies with 0-7--7 in six games. Head coach Troy Jutting’s all-time record vs. MTU stands at 16-9-3.

Mavericks Most Recently:   Minnesota State stands 4-7-1 overall and is 2-7-1 in WCHA action after splitting a league road series at Alaska Anchorage (8-2 win, 4-1 loss) in Anchorage last weekend.

Student Tickets Pre-Distribution:  MSU student ticket distribution for the Maverick men’s hockey home series with Michigan Tech has been scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Distribution of the 1100 MSU student tickets (valid current Mavcard required) will take place in the Taylor Center Hall of Champions beginning at noon.

Game Promotions:  Friday is the annual Maverick Teddy Bear Toss.  Bring a new plush item and receive a free ticket to either MSU’s game vs. Nebraska Omaha or RIT (buy one, get one free).    Fans can also bring five nonperishable food items (to be donated to Campus Kitchen) and get the same deal.

Saturday is MSU’s annual Skate With the Mavericks event.

Brownlee Sighting:  Former Minnesota State defenseman Chad Brownlee, who totalled 4-7--11 in 135 games with the Mavericks from 2003-07 and played a year in the East Coast Hockey League with Idaho following graduation, has been pursing a career in music following the conclusion of his hockey career.  The Kelowna,, B.C., native recently released his first single (Best that I can (Superhero)), which is available via iTunes) and will be singing the national anthem in Mankato at MSU’s game vs. Michigan Tech Friday.  He will also be making appearance at selected radio stations in Mankato Friday morning.
