Box Score Marshall, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks defeated the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs in their seventh NSIC match, 3-0 in Marshall, Minn., Friday afternoon.

The Mavericks came out fierce in the first period posting 14 shots with 10 shots on goal. At 7:02 in the first period freshman forward Brittany Henry (Stillwater, Minn.) scored the first goal assisted by junior forward Laura Leber (Council Bluffs, Iowa). The goal is Henry's third goal of the season and her career, Henry had two shots in the first period. The assist marks Leber's first assist on the season and eighth career assist. At 18:31 of the first period, senior midfielder Gina Paletta (Omaha, Neb.) scored the second goal of the match unassisted from the right side. Paletta had four shots in the period. Leber tallied three shots on goal along with senior defender Abby Maxson (Maple Grove, Minn.).

In the second period the Mavericks tallied 13 shots with four shots on goal. At 52:15 Paletta scored her second goal of the match and the third for the team. The goal assisted by senior midfielder Kristin Coughlin (Burnsville, Minn.) is her first assist of the season and first career assist. Paletta now has three goals on the season and 13 for her career.

Senior goalkeeper Sheila Reynolds (St. Charles, Ill.) tallied four saves in the match, one in the first period and three in the second. Reynolds now has a save percentage of .927 percent on the season. Reynolds is now 8-2-1 on the season with six shut-out matches. Freshman goalkeeper Natalie D'Adamio (Littleton, Colo.) made her first appearance of the season and career finishing out the last 28 minutes of the match.

The Mavericks now 8-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 in NSIC, return home to host Wayne State, Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. The match will be held at The Pitch at Gage Towers.
