MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State men's basketball coach
Matt Margenthaler has announced that
Quincy Anderson and
Dylan Miller will join the Maverick men's basketball team in the fall.
All signings and transfers are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.
"We are pleased to welcome both Quincy and Dylan to the Maverick family," Margenthaler said. "Their character and mentality will mesh well with our culture and that's extremely important to us."
A guard from Oshkosh, Wis., Anderson averaged 17.6 points during his senior season at Oshkosh North High School. He also scored at least 20 points in 13 games, including 36 points against Mashfield and 37 points against Oshkosh West. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game, while shooting 48.9% from the field and 43.7% from long range as he guided his team to a state championship.
"First of all Quincy is a winner," Margenthaler said. "He lead his team this past season to the Wisconsin State Championship at Oshkosh North High School. He is a versatile guard that can score in multiple ways. Quincy will be a guy that can really stretch the floor for us and defend multiple positions."
As a junior, Anderson averaged 12.9 points a game, while shooting 45.0% from the field and 47.4% from three point land.
A 6-8 forward from Panama, Ill., Miller has played for the North Dakota State men's basketball team for the last three seasons. During his time at NDSU, Miller played in 82 games, while making 42 starts. He shot 53.2% from the field and tallied 248 points and 151 rebounds. Against Northland College, Miller recorded a career-high 19 points and nine rebounds during the 2015-16 season.
"Dylan has the chance to be an impact guy for us," Margenthaler said. "His size, skills and athletic ability will make him a versatile player for us on both ends of the floor. Most importantly, Dylan's work ethic and winner's attitude will help to continue raising the bar for Maverick basketball."
Prior to joining the Bison, Miller garnered All-State honors as a member of the Hillsboro High School basketball team. He finished his high school career second all-time in scoring with 1,520 points. As a senior, he averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds a game.
Minnesota State finished its 2017-18 season with a 24-10 record and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
